Rails reading for the novice....
Last year I completed the design and development effort of this photoblog, using the web framework Ruby on Rails. Never working with a programming language extensively before, it proved to be challenging, but the simplicity of the Rails framework really helped to facilitate the develop my first web app.
This month’s issue of A List Apart takes a look at the Rails framework, with two informative articles aimed at those with little to no RoR experience. “Creating More Using Less Effort with Ruby on Rails” by Michael Slater focuses on “why” you should consider the framework, outlining it’s various benefits. Dan Benjamin’s article, Getting Started with Ruby on Rails, does a great job of explaining “how” to get started. A must read overview for anyone in the web design and/or development industry, especially if you are considering the benefits a web framework could provide.
